Walking Holidays in the West of Ireland

Welcome to my guided walking holidays and one-day hikes in the West of Ireland.

At Tourism Pure Walking Holidays, we offer you guided walking holidays in wonderful, wild, rugged Mayo and Connemara.

You are welcome to join our small hiking groups on walking tours to some of the most magnificent and inspiring areas of the western coast of Ireland.

Mayo and Connemara occupy the far west coast of Ireland, 3 hours from Dublin and 1 hour north of Galway city. A wonderful area for walking, this part of Ireland offers moderate mountains, cliff-top trails, blanket bog, spectacular beaches and offshore islands.

I am committed to offering my guests an enjoyable walking holiday in wild Mayo and Connemara, while adhering to the principles of sustainable tourism. Discover our history, legends and vibrant culture, while getting out and about.

In addition, I bring one annual group each to France and Spain, for lovely gentle walking weeks, full of culture, nature, food and wine.

Please note that I do not lead groups on mountain hikes.

Ancient Church at Kilcummin

The little ancient church at Kilcummin, near Killala in North Mayo, is well worth a detour. It was a beautiful crisp day when I visited in January. Kilcummin (not to be confused with Kilcommon, further west towards Belmullet) is a … Continue reading

Monasteries of the River Moy

Flowing just 103km from source to sea, the modest Moy isn’t the longest river found entirely within Connacht. That title belongs to the Suck, which runs for over 130km before entering the Shannon below Ballinasloe. Along with its salmon fishery, … Continue reading
