Description : The Bangor Trail, which is the most remote walking trail in Ireland, takes us into the very heart of rural, wild and rugged Mayo. This is Atlantic blanket bog and Nephin Beg mountains country.

The Bangor Trail is a fascinating and wonderful old trail, full of history, dating from a time when the vast swathes of North-West Mayo were not yet reached by road. Hi Will,
Thanks for your comment. The village of Newport would be handy, with Hotel Newport and a number of B&Bs. Alternatively, the larger town of Castlebar would be fine also, with the Harlequin Hotel, among others, plus plenty of B&Bs.
You would be most welcome on the walks. Barry.
