Weekend Walk at Carrowtigue, County Mayo

Weekend Walk at Carrowtigue (An Ceathrú Thaidhg)

Weekend walk in Mayo, Ireland

Carrowtigue cliff top walk

I’ve added the loop walk at Carrowtigue to the weekend walk schedule for this coming Saturday. Located in the wild northwest tip of Mayo, Carrowtigue offers a lovely 3 to 4 hour loop walk on cliff-tops along towards Benwee Head.

This weekend walk starts at 11.00 from the shop and community centre in Carrowtigue village (An Ceathrú Thaidhg) and will end around 15.00.

This walking trail is an excellent example of what Mayo has to offer the walker, with spectacular views all around of the county’s jagged coastline, with the Mullet peninsula jutting out to the west and the huge cliffs of Benwee to the north. Looking north towards the Stags of Broadhaven, as they stand proud out in the ocean, is a wonderful feeling.

Please give me a call if you would like to come along and bring a packed lunch plus water. Don’t forget the binoculars and camera !
